Shannon Tan recorded her best-ever Major championship finish at last week’s AIG Women’s Open ending the week in a share of sixth place at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
The Singaporean star opened with a 69 (-2) before rounds of 74 (+3) and 71 (E), but battled back to finish with a 69 (-2) on the final day.
Tan, who won the 2025 LET Order of Merit title, has improved at every Major championship she has played in 2026 and was proud of her performance.
“I’m definitely pretty happy to see the way my game has progressed this week, but also at the same time I also left quite a few shots out there,” she said. “I hit a four-putt today and the past few days putts just didn’t drop.
“It was also like how much more like I can improve, and it’s always good to see that I can always find room for improvement. At the same time, playing with the LPGA girls this week, just seeing how my game compared, seeing what I can improve on compared to them, so it’s obviously a good learning week as well.
“I’m definitely getting more and more comfortable. I remember my first ever major two years ago in Evian was completely different. I felt completely different. I think when you keep putting yourself in the same situations over and over you learn how to cope with it and it just feels normal to me right now.
“I’m pretty proud. Most proud of myself for my mental grind. It was really windy yesterday and game was probably like a C+, B- and somehow managed to put even par in, which is quite a decent score yesterday considering not many people were under par. I think grinded it out this week and I’m quite proud of myself for that.”
This week sees the PIF London Championship held at Centurion Club for the sixth consecutive year.
A field of 120 players will tee it up in a 72-hole stroke play competition with a cut to the top 60 professionals and ties after 36 holes competing for a prize fund of $2 million USD.
Tan has played this event for the previous two season and is full of confidence after her top-10 finish at the AIG Women’s Open.
She continued: “It’s definitely it’s a confidence booster. Playing London next week, so that will be a good event to sort of bring that confidence and momentum in. Playing London, Swiss, and pretty much doing everything on the LET except for Italy. I have a good run of events in Europe and then the Asia Swing as well, so will be a good run of events.
“This will be my third time at Centurion. It’s different now. It’s probably more baked out. I’ve seen pictures of the heat wave. I quite like the course and I’ve done decent the past two years, so it will be good to go back there. It’s a familiar ground and I sort of know like what to do and like what to expect.”
Tan will tee it up in the first round of the PIF London Championship at 8.03 am (local time) alongside England’s Cara Gainer and American Hannah Gregg.
