Shannon Tan is “buzzing” after winning back-to-back Player of the Month awards on the LET, in July and August.
Following her tie for sixth in the AIG Women’s Open, she was voted Player of the Month for July and she has now also been voted for as the Player of the Month for August, after a consistent summer featuring a solo third place in the PIF London Championship and a tie for sixth in the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.
“I can’t believe it, it’s such a great surprise,” said 22-year-old Tan, from Singapore.
“It was always going to be hard to follow up my Order of Merit victory last year, but I’m very happy to have rediscovered some of my best form this summer and hopefully it’s coming at just the right time heading into La Sella Open!”
Tan finished fourth at last year’s event and it’s her third time at La Sella Golf. She added: “I love this place. It’s owned by my sponsor, Anpora/Finova. It would be super special to get my first win of the year here.”
“I love how the hotel is on site at the course, with great facilities and the hospitality is great. They look after every small detail.
“I’m feeling good about my swing after two weeks off at home in Singapore. I had a few golf days but also spent time with family and friends after being away from home for 11 weeks.
“I’m playing in the Asian Games in Japan in two weeks so I’m also hoping to do well in that event. It will be the first time I’ll be representing Singapore in a team event as a professional, so that will be special as well.
“It would be good to do well here in Spain as well, but whenever I play I try not to put too many expectations on myself, but just focus on my processes and do my best.”
