KPMG WOMEN’S IRISH OPEN KICKS OFF COUNTDOWN TO AUGUST WITH MEDIA & PARTNERS DAY AT THE K CLUB

KPMG Women's Irish Open

The KPMG Women’s Irish Open today hosted its official Media & Partners Day at The K Club, Co. Kildare, marking the beginning of the final countdown to one of the most anticipated events on the Ladies European Tour (LET) calendar.

With just weeks to go until the championship tees off on the Palmer South Course, organisers welcomed media and partners to get a first look at the venue and hear from some of the biggest names in Irish and international women’s golf.

This year’s tournament will feature a field of genuine world-class quality. Charley Hull, one of the most recognisable names in the women’s game, returns after her hugely popular debut appearance in 2025. The World No. 4 and seven-time Solheim Cup player brings eight professional wins and a reputation for bringing the crowd to its feet.

Ireland’s own Leona Maguire – the first Irishwoman ever to win on the LPGA Tour – is also confirmed, as is Lauren Walsh, who secured her LPGA Tour card with a stunning performance at Q-School in Alabama last December.

The 2026 edition will feature more Irish women in the field than at any point in the tournament’s history, a reflection of the remarkable pipeline of talent emerging from the island of Ireland.

Among them are Áine Donegan, the Lahinch native and first graduate of Golf Ireland’s Professional Pathway programme, and Olivia Mehaffey, the Tandragee professional who topped the US Women’s Open qualifier at The Buckinghamshire in May. Sara Byrne, one of Ireland’s most consistent performers on the LET, is also confirmed, alongside eighteen-year-old amateur Olivia Costello, a two-time Irish Girls’ Amateur champion from Roscommon, who is also expected to feature.

MJ Fetherson, Director, The K Club, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the KPMG Women’s Irish Open to it for the first time. The Palmer South Course is ready to showcase the very best of what The K Club has to offer. We look forward to seeing the world’s best players take on the challenge in August.”

Stephen King, Partner, KPMG Ireland said: “The KPMG Women’s Irish Open has grown into one of the standout events on the sporting calendar. We are proud supporters of ambition and the role this tournament plays in advancing women’s golf in Ireland and we look forward to welcoming the world’s best to The K Club in August.”
