Ready for professional golf under top conditions: Teenager Lucia Fohrmann secured her place in the star-studded international field of the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG (May 14-17, 2026) with a strong 75 in the Amundi German Masters Junior Qualifier by Esther Henseleit on the challenging North Course at Green Eagle Golf Courses. In just over two weeks, the 15-year-old golfer from GC Starnberg will challenge top international golfers, including the German trio of Esther Henseleit, Alexandra Försterling, and Helen Briem, at the only German tournament of the Ladies European Tour. Julia Zimmermann from GC Mülheim an der Ruhr (76), Cosima Feßmann from GC Am Reichswald (77), and Johanna Schobben from Düsseldorfer GC (77) will tee off in the Pro-Am of the Ladies European Tour event as the second, third, and fourth-place finishers, respectively – and will also gain unforgettable experience in Winsen/Luhe near Hamburg.
“It was an exciting day – my heart was pounding as I walked up to the first tee. I never would have thought I’d come out on top. We had a great atmosphere in our group, pushing each other. And at the end, when I knew I was in a good position, it was really exciting again. Now I’m really looking forward to being among the pros, enjoying every single shot, and learning so much,” said winner Lucia Fohrmann.
“The Amundi German Masters Junior Qualifier by Esther Henseleit has demonstrated the potential of young German golfers. The fact that these young female golfers compete on one of the most challenging courses on the tour, and that one of them ultimately makes the leap into the professional field – that’s a fantastic story and what makes this format so special,” says Dirk Glittenberg, Tournament Director of the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG. “We warmly congratulate our winner and look forward to seeing her again among the top international players. After last year’s thrilling event at Green Eagle, we can’t wait to build on that success in May.”
“Many young players possess talent, ambition, and passion – the crucial factor is providing them with the right opportunities. Developing young talent begins in the clubs, is further refined in the regional golf associations, and finds its overarching framework in the German Golf Association. It remains particularly important to inspire children and teenagers to take up golf at an early age, facilitate access, and foster long-term commitment. This requires dedicated individuals on the ground as well as inspiring role models. We are delighted that Esther Henseleit will continue to support this path as an ambassador and provide important impetus for the development of young talent,” explained Achim Battermann, Vice President of the German Golf Association.
“As a professional golfer, I know how important it is to receive early support and gain tournament experience,” Germany’s number one, Esther Henseleit, explained her motivation for initiating this event. For the 27-year-old, who won the silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the qualifying event was “a matter close to my heart. I want to give young talents the opportunity to showcase their skills, compete against each other, and further develop their passion for golf. Every great dream begins with an opportunity, and in this case, perhaps even with a starting place at the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG in my hometown of Hamburg,” Henseleit added.
Eligible to participate in the Amundi German Masters Junior Qualifier by Esther Henseleit were young female golfers from Germany up to and including 18 years of age on the registration deadline with a handicap index of 2.4 or better.
Interactive Rally for Girls up to 15 and Free Entry for All Under 18s
In addition to the top talents who get to experience the atmosphere of a professional tournament on the course, girls between 8 and 15 years old will once again have the opportunity in 2026 to observe the elite up close. Following last year’s great success, the event, in cooperation with the three regional golf associations in northern Germany, and with the support of the Association of Club-Free Golfers (VcG), the German Golf Association (DGV), and title sponsor Amundi, invites interested girls to the Green Eagle Golf Courses during the tournament. On Thursday, May 14, 2026, they will be welcomed by experienced mentors at the start of the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG and experience the tournament both on and off the course during an exciting interactive rally.
Furthermore, all spectators under 18 years of age have free admission on all tournament days as part of the “Golf NextGen” project
A strong field of players, including German stars and defending champion Shannon Tan, will welcome young fans to the German Championship starting May 14th. Qualifier winner Fohrmann will face several prominent German players among the favorites. These include Olympic medalist Esther Henseleit, top talent Helen Briem, winner of the LPGA Q-Series Final Stage at the end of 2025, and Alexandra Försterling, winner of the tournament in 2024. Other favorites include the German LET champions Laura Fünfstück and Patricia Isabel Schmidt, as well as Leonie Harm and Olivia Cowan. Defending champion Shannon Tan, who won the celebrated premiere at Green Eagle and later even secured the LET season title, is also looking forward to competing in Germany. This is also true for numerous top European players on the tour, for whom the event in Germany is an important milestone in their quest to qualify for the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands this fall.
