She may still only be 17-years-old but Canada’s Anna Huang has big ambitions for the 2026 season on the Ladies European Tour (LET).
Huang made history in 2025 when she secured back-to-back titles at the La Sella Open and Lacoste Ladies Open de France to become the second youngest two-time winner on the LET – World No 1 Jeeno Thitikul being the only player to achieve the feat at a younger age.
Fast forward a few months and Huang has made a solid start to the new season securing two top-10s in Australia before contenting at the Aramco Championship – a co-sanctioned event with the LPGA – where she would eventually finish T13.
“It was a really good week overall for me,” Huang said, who finished as the highest ranked core LET player. “I was just really happy to make the cut because it was first LPGA event [outside of the Majors]. That was really exciting and a big milestone for me. Just being up towards the top of the leaderboard, it was kind of a surprise but I tried to just enjoy the moment.
“I played with Leona Maguire on the final day who finished second. I learned a lot playing with her, just how she’s able to bounce back so well from a bad shot. She’s so consistent and know how’s to play to her strengths.”
In the process, the Canadian has risen to a career-best 86 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings cementing herself as one of the LET’s top stars. She now has big goals heading into the new season, including winning the Order of Merit title won in 2025 by close friend Shannon Tan.
“It’s crazy how much I’ve risen since I started on the LET,” Huang said, currently 12th in the season-long standings. “Last year was a breakthrough year for me because during junior golf I didn’t win too much. Going back-to-back really helped me with my confidence and has prepared me for this year. It’s definitely a new thing having a lot of eyes on me now. Last year, nobody really knew who I was. It’s pretty cool. But I’ll just keep doing the same thing.
“I have a lot of goals this year. Getting 1% better every day is really important to me. My main goal this year is to get my LPGA card. I’m working on that. I want to get into two or three of the Majors. Then there’s the LET Order of Merit. Winning it [is the goal]. I’ll stay in the present though.”
As for this week, Huang tees up in the co-sanctioned Joburg Ladies Open at Randpark Golf Club where she is the second highest ranked player in the field behind home favourite Casandra Alexander.
On the challenge ahead, the 17-year-old said: “The greens are definitely a big change from where we were two weeks. The fairways and greens are really spongy so it’s definitely a different environment and I’ve been trying to get used to that. My dad is back on the bag for the next two weeks. For here and Cape Town [at the Investec SA Women’s Open].
“I’m looking forward to eating some good food and maybe do some sightseeing. But most of all I’m focused on my golf. I’m feeling confident.”
Huang gets underway at the Joburg Ladies Open at 11:40 local time playing alongside Australia’s Kelsey Bennett and Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard.
