HULL AND WOAD SAVOURING CHALLENGE AT SHADOW CREEK

Charley Hull

English stars Charley Hull and Lottie Woad are expecting a tough test as the world’s best compete at the Aramco Championship from April 2-5.

The duo, who are ranked fourth and ninth respectively in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, are part of the 120-player field that will compete in the second PIF Global Series event of the year.

Shadow Creek in Las Vegas plays host to the Aramco Championship which is co-sanctioned by both the Ladies European Tour (LET) and LPGA Tour for the first time.

Hull began the year with a victory on the LET winning the 2026 PIF Saudi Ladies International and is looking forward to the week ahead.

“It was good to get that win in Saudi and I had a top-10 finish in Singapore,” said Hull. “I didn’t play my best last week, but I didn’t really feel like the golf course suited me quite as well. I was always chasing birdies because there was so many birdie opportunities out there. If you made a par, it felt like you were making a bogey.

“I really like this golf course. I played match play here a couple of times, and I think it’s a great golf course – it’s one of my favourites on Tour. It’s got a major feel to it. It can be set up very tough, so it’s going to be a good challenge.

“You’ve got to be good with your irons, with your driver and you have got to put your iron shots into the green in the right position for the right putts. You have got to get up-and-down well, because everyone is going to miss greens. Hit the ball well off the tee and just play steady golf around here.

“I think match play is a completely different game to stroke play. In match play you could afford to be a bit more aggressive round this golf course, take a drivable par-4 on. It depends on what the other players done and what position you’re in, and now it’s stroke play, so it’s actually completely different golf course.”

Woad will be teeing it up at Shadow Creek for the first time this week but has heard plenty of stories about the golf course.

The two-time LET winner knows it will be demanding and test every part of her game, but she’s hoping to get off to a good start in Las Vegas.

“My game has been okay,” said Woad. “I feel like I’ve had pretty slow starts on most of the events other than Hilton, so I have done pretty well at back dooring top-10s, top-15s. I want to switch that up a little bit and having a bit better start is the key I think.

“I have definitely heard some horror stories coming into this week from a few people, but I’ve been told it’s softer than it was. The course just challenges every part of your game. You need to hit the fairways and really need to hit the green too. It’s about playing in sections and using backstops when you can is probably the key.”

With a prize fund of $4 million up for grabs, there is plenty on the line for the LET and LPGA players as they look to conquer Shadow Creek.

Five-time LET winner Hull also believes it’s a great opportunity for LET players this week given the strength of the field.

Hull added: “I’m very grateful to what PIF and Golf Saudi have given the opportunity to both LPGA and LET players, especially with the prize fund being pretty big this week.

“It’s attracting a really good field, so credit to them for choosing such a great golf course. It’s a great opportunity for the LET girls as well coming over here and playing in a co-sanctioned event. It’s good for everyone.”
