SUSTAINABILITY AT THE CORE OF THE KPMG WOMEN’S IRISH OPEN

Tournaments are thinking more and more about sustainability when hosting an event and the KPMG Women’s Irish Open is no exception.

Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel located just outside of Dublin is hosting the tournament for the first time in 2024 and there are plenty of sustainability initiatives happening throughout the week.

The LET is committed to recognising and promoting great sustainable work being done by the LET community as part of the Tour’s initiative LET Celebrating the Green presented by Dow in partnership with GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf.

Water refill stations are available on site for the public to fill up their water bottles, while there is also a bottle Re-Turn station.

Across the course, there is a proficient waste management system with compost, recycling and general waste bins; additionally, biodegradable utensils are being used within the food trucks located in the fan village.

The 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open is a period positive event and as such, players are being supplied with complimentary sanitary products.

School children attended the LET event on the first two tournament days with Saturday being a family day.

On Friday, it was Play in Pink for Breast Cancer Day with players, caddies and anyone attending the tournament encouraged to wear pink in support of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute – the charity partner of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.

Golf Ireland will also be putting on golf clinics from Friday through to Sunday for up-and-coming players to get some advice from LET players.

KPMG – the title sponsor of the tournament – are once again doing their ‘Books for Birdies’ initiative which sees one children’s book donated by KPMG to local communities for every birdie recorded by every player at this year’s tournament.
