Solheim Cup 2026 Media Day

On the 11th September 2026, the 20th edition of the Solheim Cup will get underway as 24 golf stars from Europe and the USA take centre stage at Bernardus Golf, from 7-13 September, 2026.

Hosted for the first time in the Netherlands, more than 80,000 fans from over 40 countries will be welcomed on site at Bernardus. The Solheim Cup  will be broadcast globally into more than 620 million homes, watched in more than 155 territories, for over 30 hours of live TV coverage.

Global coverage of the event in print, online and across social media is anticipated to reach more than 4 million people with more than 200 local and international journalists, photographers and content producers in attendance, shining a light on the Netherlands as a world class golfing destination.

The anticipated economic impact of the event to the surrounding area is expected to be in the region of €17 million  the NGF believe the legacy of the event will be unprecedented growth of golf in the country  as they expect to see many new golfers to the game, especially growing the percentage of women golfers from 32% to 40% in the short term from their initiatives leading up to the Solheim Cup and the tournament itself.

One of the most crucial component of any successful golf event is the volunteers. The remarkable popularity of this event was underlined early in the planning process with more than 2500 people registering their interest to volunteer, with more than 1000+ now signed  up, ready to help to deliver what organisers aim to be the best Solheim Cup to date.

While the bulk of the volunteers are from the Netherlands, one third are international, coming from as many as 24 different countries and as far afield as Australia. The volunteer gender split is 45% male to 55% female, bucking the trend seen at most golf events, while the youngest volunteer is 16 and the oldest 83, as they deliver across more than 40 different roles for the event.

Some 50 travel officers will be in attendance to ensure the approximate 4000 bikes and more than 60 shuttle buses transporting fans to and from the venue to five travel hubs in a safe, sustainable timely manner. For the first time, the Solheim Cup 2026 will be a car-free event with visitors arriving by shuttle bus, bike or on foot.

Sustainability has been at the heart of all planning with the ambition to minimise both the carbon footprint and waste, maximise the use of sustainable products where possible and make all efforts to utilise the circular economy, while protecting the biodiversity of the Solheim Cup 2026.
