Last week was important for Ginnie Ding as she recorded her best-ever finish on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and secured her full status for 2027.
The Hong Kong star headed into the Aramco Korea Championship having just teed it up in the Asian Games in Japan.
Ding finished in solo 13th at the Asian Games, but the 24-year-old could feel lots of potential in her game.
“I felt good going into that week, I played good overall. I learned so much. I felt prepared and coming into this week the timing was perfect,” said Ding. “The course is actually quite similar in terms of layout, setup and vibe, so that was helpful.
“It was really great timing. I had to take Italy off to prep myself for Asian Games, but I’m really happy about this stretch and being able to be close to home.”
Ding opened with rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1) over the first two days at New Korea Country Club before having an excellent weekend.
The Hong Kong professional recorded a bogey-free 67 (-5) on Saturday to move herself into the top five.
She continued that form on Sunday with another flawless round, this time a 66 (-6) which included three birdies in her last five holes to secure a T3 finish alongside major champion Yani Tseng.
Thanks to her excellent result, Ding climbed up 32 spots in the LET Order of Merit from 85th to 53rd and has now secured her LET status for the 2027 season.
“It was a very special week, and I have so many emotions. I went into it with an open mind having just come from the Asian Games. It was a promising week and I felt there was so much potential. It was really nice to be able to harness it this week and the putts dropped,” continued Ding.
“I really needed this [result] and I knew that at the beginning of the week. I’ve not been playing my best golf for probably a year and a half. I have been working so hard, I’ve had so much support back home. This means the world to me.
“Change was needed in general. I was stagnant for a year and a half. I needed change in everything. New rhythm really helped. I’m going to go home, reflect, have a great week off and see what the next few weeks brings.”
