Gemma Clews made her first-ever hole-in-one as a professional during the first round of the PIF London Championship.
The English star was in the first group out of the day at Centurion Club but had a tough start with bogeys on the fifth and seventh holes.
Clews soon turned it around making her first birdie on the 10th before another on the 13th to get back to level par.
The 2025 LET Access Series (LETAS) Order of Merit champion then made an ace on the 17th when her ball came off the bank and went into the hole to seal a round of 71 (-2).
“I used the slope a little bit and then it went in. It’s my first one in tournament as a professional, so that’s quite nice. I’ve been close a lot, but it just never managed to go in,” said Clews.
“I’ve had holes-in-one as an amateur, but not as a professional. I had my godfather out watching me and there were some people cheering at the back of the green. It was nice to see the ball go in.
“My round was up-and-down in general. I drove it pretty good and I putted really well. I was battling hard, my approach shots were a little bit iffy which isn’t normally like me.”
Clews tees it up in the second round at Centurion Club at 12.10 pm (local time) alongside South African duo Caitlyn Macnab and Cara Gorlei.
