BELGIAN LADIES OPEN READY FOR WEEK AHEAD TOGETHER WITH JOHN DEERE

The Ladies European Tour (LET) returns this week to Naxhelet Golf Club for the 2023 edition of the Belgian Ladies Open where a sustainable approach is used.

Sustainability is one of the main themes running through this week with Naxhelet Golf Club being GEO certified and it is the only golf course in Wallonia, Belgium to have obtained the certification thanks to its organic maintenance.

Highlighting the sustainable and environmental work that tournaments and venues do is part of the LET’s initiative Celebrating the Green, Presented by Dow which aims to recognise and celebrate the sustainability activity – environmental, human, social and economic – stemming from players, partners, tournaments and venues.

Being eco-responsible is key to the certification and the ecosystem created by the golf course is an opportunity to showcase possible measures in order to make the course even more sustainable.

The golf course only uses eco-responsible products and organic fertilisers, while water management plays a key role because only rainwater is used to irrigate the greens and the tees.

Naxhelet has their own vegetable garden – with a view of the 18th green – which produces only organic food and delivers extraordinary taste and flavour to the restaurant on site. Another example are the eggs which are served at breakfast that can be collected from close to the putting green.

The diversity amongst the teams working on site creates a balanced atmosphere and motivates all employees to always give their best and the fact the venue hosts an LET tournament boosts all team members.

Carlos Aragones, European Sales & Marketing Manager – Golf & Turf at John Deere, said: “John Deere is committed to achieving more sustainability in golf and sports turf and our long-standing partnership with the LET amplifies our opportunities to jointly deliver on this aspect across diverse tournament venues.

“A sustainable approach to golf course maintenance takes into account both environmental and economic factors, while continuing to aim for high quality playing surfaces driven by our latest John Deere golf innovative solutions. We are delighted to advance in this journey with LET.”

Fiona Harold, Commercial Director of the LET, said: “The LET is proud to have John Deere as a partner and enjoy seeing the cooperation between John Deere and Naxhelet Golf Club on the Belgian Ladies Open. John Deere and Naxhelet have been working very well together on creating the best quality golf course for the LET players ahead of and throughout the 2023 Belgian Ladies Open.

“They both have a long-term commitment of achieving the same goal through using creative methods while working in the most sustainable way possible to address some of the most important challenges of our time. We look forward to seeing more of this type of cooperation between John Deere and our LET tournament venues in the future.”
