ARWEFJÄLL HAPPY AFTER MAKING MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUT AT EVIAN

Kajsa Arwefjäll

Kajsa Arwefjäll teed it up in a Major championship for the first time ever today as she played in the first round of the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship.

The Swedish star opened with a round of 69 (-2) at Evian Resort Golf Club which included five birdies and three bogeys.

Arwefjäll secured her place at this major through the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit and enjoyed making her Major debut.

“It was just very nice to play,” she said. “I played with Helen [Briem], I’ve played with her a lot and then the Yuna [Nishimura] I played when I was 18 in Japan playing the world championship. It was a nice group. The place is amazing; it is just awesome.

“I was definitely nervous. When I did my last putt on the practice green, I was shaking and then I walked up there and thought I’m fine and then I was shaking. It’s fun, I like the nerves and it means that you care. It’s good.

“My game was pretty solid overall, I hit some good drives, good approach shots and good putts. Overall, I had some good things and to go even lower I just need to make a couple more putts.”

Arwefjäll is joined by both of her parents this week with her dad Niclas on the bag, who has also been her coach.

She continued: “It’s awesome having my dad on the bag. I love it and my mum is here walking and watching as well. It’s very nice. My dad has taught me everything I know. It’s good to have him there and if I have any questions on how to hit a shot, he can help me.

“The place and the view are very nice. I told my parents, I’m not that much of a material person. When it comes to clubs, I like to keep my old stuff, but I love to get new things. My new bag – the Callaway bag is awesome – I love pink, so to have a pink bag is so nice. I got some new clothes from J.Lindeberg to wear for this week.”

The Swedish player is no stranger to Evian Resort Golf Club having teed it up here at the 2026 Jabra Ladies Open de France where she ended the week in a share of ninth place.

Arwefjäll is not putting any expectations on herself having started so well in her first major appearance.

Sh added: “It helped a lot having played Jabra Ladies Open de France, there are three tees which are different from what we play, so those holes are longer. Other than that, it’s the same course so you know where to be and where not to be. It’s good to know and I think it helped me out there a little bit.

“My expectations are still the same. I’ve played the course before, and I feel like I know what I can score out there. Even though I’m playing against different people and better people, I will keep to my own game and try to score what I know is possible to do.”
