Sandolo moves into second round lead in Catalonia

(El Golf Platja de Pals, Costa Brava, September 23, 2005) – Sophie Sandolo from Italy shot a low-round five-under-par 68 to move into the lead at nine-under-par 137 after the second round of play at the Catalonia Ladies Masters at El Golf Platja del Pals, on the Costa Brava.

Sandolo, whose player profile received more hits than any other on the LET website after she released an “explosive and sexy” 2005 calendar, has recorded four top ten finishes on the LET this season.

“This is the last tournament of the season so I just want to enjoy it,” said Sandolo. “All the players here have a great chance, both Paula and Gwladys played great today, so we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

Sandolo, who is playing on her sixth season on Tour, studied Marketing at UCLA. Her best finish this season was tied for third place at the BMW Ladies Italian Open in June, and the experience, she said, gave her the most satisfaction of her career, despite having finished in second place at the Spanish Open in 2003.

Away from golf, Sandolo is a keen windsurfer and she would rate her water sporting skills at about the equivalent of a 15 handicap in golf. She also hopes to win the jet-ski on offer for a hole-in-one tomorrow.
