KOUSKOVA PROUD OF PERFORMANCE AFTER STUNNING 63 ON SUNDAY IN KOREA

Sara Kouskova

Sara Kouskova fired a course record round of 63 (-9) to just come up shy and finish as the runner-up at the 2026 Aramco Korea Championship.

The Czech star had produced rounds of 69-69-68 on the first three days of action at New Korea Country Club.

But the two-time LET burst into life on Sunday going toe-to-toe with world number five Miyu Yamashita for the title.

Kouskova started strong with birdies on holes one, three and five to put the pressure on the Japanese star and then made back-to-back birdies on nine and ten.

The Olympian continued to rally on the back nine rolling in birdies on the 13th and 14th holes to keep the gap at just one stroke.

Kouskova finished with a flourish with birdies on 17 and 18 to seal her round of 63 (-9), which at the time was a new course record.

The Czech winner was soon matched by Yamashita, who also fired a 63 (-9), as she took home the trophy leaving Kouskova in second with a score of 19-under-par.

“It’s been such a good day, it’s just topped off a really good week. I’m really happy with how we played and I couldn’t have done much better golf today honestly,” said Kouskova.

“I couldn’t catch [Miyu] even with this because I thought if I have a really low one today, it could be good. I’m still so pumped. I tried to put one foot in front of the other and stayed really calm during the whole day.

“Jakub helped me a lot too. We just chatted about random things in-between the shots and that was really what I needed to focus on one thing at a time and we did that. I know it sounds like a cliché, but that was the key to what we did out there today.

“I resisted the temptation to look [at the leaderboards] all day which I’m so happy. I think it benefitted that mindset to remain calm and just keep making it. The last look was after my last putt where I thought ‘oh okay. I’m still super pumped about today.

“I’m just trying to do my best every day and work on our game and hopefully, it’s going to take us where we want to be and it’s definitely a great feeling to be up here and I’m really enjoying it.”
