ROOKIE MORGAN FINISHES STRONG WITH FINAL DAY SURGE IN KOREA

Anna Morgan

Anna Morgan produced another excellent performance on the Ladies European Tour (LET) ending the week in a share of fifth place at the Aramco Korea Championship.

The American opened with rounds of 70-68-71 to sit just outside of the top 10 heading into the final day at New Korea Country Club.

But the rookie came out of the blocks quickly on Sunday rolling in four birdies in a row between holes two and five.

She added two further birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to make the turn in 30 (-6) on the final day.

Morgan then made a double bogey on the 10th before bouncing back with a birdie on 11, another bogey was made on 12.

However, she finished strong with birdies on the 13th, 14th and 17th holes to sign for a round of 65 (-7) and end the week in T5.

“Honestly, I got really in the zone, and I didn’t realise how many under-par I was at the turn. I looked at my scorecard, and I don’t know whether that was a good or bad thing, but I got a little excited,” said Morgan.

“I was just amped up on the back nine, but I’m honestly pretty proud of my round and I was glad to have a nice final day and put myself back up towards the top.

“I’ve been slowly getting better and more used to everything throughout the whole year. I feel like my game has been slowly getting better, but also I’m managing it better too. Even when I’m not having my best stuff, I’m still able to put up a decent number. It was a pretty solid week and I’m still happy with where I finished.

“I’m staying in South Korea, here, next week and I’m going to do some exploring and a little bit of practice before going to India. It’s nice to enjoy a week off from tournament golf and then get ready for the next stretch.”
