The Italian Golf Federation has signed an agreement for renowned jewellery brand Buccellati to become the title sponsor of the Ladies Italian Open.
The Buccellati Ladies Italian Open, the 28th edition of Italy’s premier women’s competition, will be played from September 25-27, 2026 at the Golf Club Milano.
The competition will feature top players from the Ladies European Tour, including Buccellati ambassador Alessandra Fanali.
The tournament will contribute to the development of the national women’s golf movement. This strengthens the partnership between the Italian Golf Federation and Buccellati, presenting sponsor of the Italian Pro Tour 2026.
The Buccellati Ladies Italian Open will feature the champions of the top European women’s circuit and the stars of Italian golf, including Fanali. The 26-year-old pro from Fiuggi, who represented Italy at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, will take to the field in Monza as an ambassador for Buccellati.
The Buccellati Ladies Italian Open, a Ladies European Tour event organised by the Italian Golf Federation with the support of official advisor Infront, will combine sport and lifestyle in an ideal conjunction with Milan Fashion Week, scheduled for the same week as the competition.
The Italians are seeking their first tournament win – The Italian players will be chasing their first ever victory in the competition. So far, five second-place finishes have been achieved, by Silvia Cavalleri (2000 and 2002), Veronica Zorzi (2005), Giulia Sergas (2011), and Alessandra Fanali, who, in 2022, was defeated in a play-off by Morgane Metraux in a three-way tie that also featured England’s Meghan MacLaren. In the last edition in 2024—won by England’s Amy Taylor at the Golf Nazionale in Sutri (VT)—the best Italian result was achieved by Francesca Fiorellini, who finished third and was awarded the title of best amateur in the competition.
Golf Club Milano – Founded in 1928, Golf Club Milano has hosted numerous national and international championships, as well as nine editions of the Italian Open: 1951, 1952, 1956, 1981, 1984, 1990, 2015, 2016, and 2017. The three courses, which wind through the Royal Park of Monza, cover an area of nearly 700 hectares, perfectly integrating into nature and its biodiversity.
Maria Cristina Buccellati, Global Communication Director at Buccellati, said: “Sponsoring the women’s open represents a significant challenge for us. Our goal is to help elevate women’s golf to a level of visibility and prize money much greater than it currently enjoys. We recognise that this is a gradual process, but we are confident, considering that similar dynamics have already led to positive results in other sports.”
Cristiano Cerchiai, President of the Italian Golf Federation, said: “Buccellati’s presence as title sponsor of the Ladies Italian Open adds even more prestige to an event that is highly strategic for the growth of the women’s golf movement. Tradition, elegance, and recognisability, which have always been hallmarks of golf, represent a common thread that unites the Italian Golf Federation and Buccellati. I would like to thank the Buccellati family for embarking on a journey, which began with their support of the Italian Pro Tour, towards a synergy that shares vision and values and looks to the future with ambition.”
