Anna Morgan tops the Rookie of the Year rankings on the Ladies European Tour (LET) heading into a busy summer stretch.
The American, who turned professional in 2024, leads the standings with 473.35 points from the nine events she has competed in.
Morgan has had three top-10 finishes so far with her best finish of T3 at the Lalla Meryem Cup in May.
She then went on a family holiday to Italy and took a trip back home to the United States of America before heading to Europe for this week’s Dutch Ladies Open.
“In Morocco, I just did all the right things,” she said. “I’m still new out here and trying to get used to the travel and tournament weeks and finding a schedule that works for me. [It was good] just knowing that I can compete out here and slowly trying to get better each week and learn from it as I go along.
“I actually went on a family holiday with all of my family, my grandparents and cousins and everyone. We went to Italy, so I was there for a week and then I went home for the first time since the season started. It was nice to be back for a little bit, work with my coach and also just take a little bit of a break.
“It’s really important to take a break. I’m a big believer in balance and as much as I Iike to practice and work hard, I think it’s just as important to take a break sometimes, even just a mental reset. The week after Morocco, I went to Italy and didn’t even look at my clubs, I ate a little bit, drank a little bit and enjoyed spending time with my family. It was good to do a little reset for the rest of the season.”
In her rookie season on the LET, the travel schedule sees players compete across five continents and this week is a new country for Morgan.
Having had three weeks off from tournament golf, she’s looking forward to teeing it up at Goyer Golf & Country Club from June 19-21.
She continued: “It’s my first time in the Netherlands. I’m excited to get playing again and I have had a few weeks off, so it seems like I haven’t played a tournament in a bit even though it hasn’t been that long. I’m excited to get going again.
“I’ve only seen nine holes so far, I’ve played the back nine. It definitely seems like you want to place it off the tee. In certain situations, distance is nice, but I don’t think it’s as important this week in certain cases.
“You are better laying back on certain holes and just being in the fairway. You just have to get shots off the tee and then some of the greens have small little landing zones too. It’ll be a good balance of everything.”
This is a year of learning for Morgan, adapting to life as a professional and travelling across the world on the LET.
However, she believes she is getting more comfortable as the year goes and has also enjoyed seeing friends from college.
“It’s definitely different than college where sometimes it was a short plane ride or a drive,” she added. “But at the same time, it’s still the same in terms of schedule and so I feel like it’s not that different in that aspect.
“I didn’t really know what to expect for my first year out here. I’m learning something every week whether it’s on the course or off the course. I feel I’ve gotten more comfortable since I’ve been out here, so I’m trying to get better as I go still.
“It’s been a lot of fun! There were some girls out here that I haven’t seen since college and it’s nice to be back out and playing against and with each other. Playing practice rounds with people that I haven’t seen in a couple of years and then also just having a good group to travel with.
“I feel like I make a new friend every week. I still feel like I don’t know everybody out here, but equally there have been a lot of people that have been welcoming and just really nice and encouraging and if I have any questions to lean on them.”
Morgan tees it up in the first round of the Dutch Ladies Open from the 10th tee at 7.56 am (local time) alongside Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord and Spain’s Maria Parra.
