SATTELKAU EXCITED TO BE BACK ON HOME SOIL AFTER BEST LET FINISH

Celina Sattelkau

Germany’s Celina Sattelkau recorded her best-ever finish on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in Mauritius and is ready to tee it up on home soil at the Amundi German Masters.

The 24-year-old produced rounds of 68-67-71 to finish in a share of fifth place at the MCB Ladies Classic – Mauritius and move up to 37th in the LET Order of Merit.

Sattelkau, who is in her second season on the LET, triumphed twice on the Sunshine Ladies Tour earlier in 2026, but is now looking forward to the European swing.

“I’m very excited,” she said. “I’m really happy to have the European swing and to start with a German tournament. That’s super fun because we have so many supporters, coaches, fans here and I have my family here as well. It’s cool to be here – a little bit cold – but I’m excited for the rest of the season now.

“Mauritius was a great week. Generally, the tournament I would vote it for best tournament of the year so far with the organisation, the course, we were treated so well.

“A highlight for me was also being part of the activation between the LET and R&A and learning more about agronomy. It was a 10 out of 10 week, I stayed with a friend which was super fun. The atmosphere, the beach, I couldn’t really complain about it.”

After her wins in South Africa, Sattelkau got her first LET starts of the season at the Australian Open and Australian WPGA Championship.

The German player missed the cut in her first event, but since then has gone on to record three top-30 finishes before her top five in Mauritius and now has more motivation for the future.

“I remember I got the two invites for Australia after my two wins and the first Australian tournament, I was pretty nervous because it was the Australian Open,” she continued.

“I missed the cut and I was very upset because with the re-rank and I didn’t have a full card; I just wanted to score one point. Having played a couple of tournaments with a couple of top-30 finishes and now a top-5 – my best finish on tour! It’s given me a little bit more peace knowing I belong here, I’ve done a lot of work and it’s paying off.

“After my two wins on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, I knew I could win, but Australia was a reality check with a bigger and stronger field. Having had the experience of leading and being in the last group and in contention, I know I’m working on the right things and it’s giving me more motivation and the space to dream about doing more on the LET.”

Sattelkau is one of 15 Germans teeing it up on home soil at the 2026 Amundi German Masters. The tournament is being played on the North Course at Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg for the second consecutive year.

The 24-year-old is inspired by her fellow German players and excited to see how her career progresses in the coming years.

“It’s awesome,” she explained. “If you look at German women’s golf, we have gotten so good. With Esther [Henseleit] and her silver medal at the Olympics, multiple winners on the LET, it’s just really cool to see. I did well last week, but I’m not even close to being probably top five in Germany.

“It’s giving me motivation to keep going and a lot of the girls older who have accomplished a bit more, it’s cool to see and that’s where I want to go and where I want to be in two or three years. It’s cool to have a little German family and my progress. Last year, I hadn’t had a top-20 on the LET before this tournament, so I’m excited to see where I will be one year from now.”

Despite recording her best-ever LET result, Sattelkau is not placing any extra expectations on herself.

Instead, she wants to be as free as she is able to which will hopefully help her play better on the course.

She added: “Now after Mauritius, I talked to my mental coach yesterday and I think it’s interesting what other people’s expectations are of yourself after a good finish. I want to keep doing me and keep doing things like that, I want to play freely. I want my heart to be free and light and enjoy the adventure. At the same time, I’m not too worried about the scores, but if I can do that well then I think I can play better.

“This week is a different golf course from Mauritius, a different weather and I want to have fun with the challenge and not worry too much about the result if it’s going to be good or bad. My goal is not to be in the top 30 on the LET, I want to go beyond that and I’m working on the skills I will need later on when I want to play in majors.”

Sattelkau will tee it up in the first round in Germany at 7.52 am (local time) alongside Slovenia’s Pia Babnik and Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Soenderby.
