The ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open is set to welcome a world-class field with the confirmation of the last two Major champions, Maja Stark and Minjee Lee, for the 2025 edition, taking place at Dundonald Links from 24–27 July.
World No.6 Minjee Lee, now a three-time Major champion, will arrive at Dundonald Links, a Darwin Escapes venue, following a commanding three-shot victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The 29-year-old previously won the 2021 Amundi Evian Championship and the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open. A strong competitor at this tournament, Lee has seven top-20 finishes and last year led the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open after the first two rounds. Her best finish at the event was second place in 2018.
Lee said, “I’ve always enjoyed competing at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open. Dundonald Links is a great test and the week is always really enjoyable. Coming off my win at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, I’m feeling confident and excited to bring that momentum to Scotland.”
Sweden’s Maja Stark captured her first Major title last month at the U.S. Women’s Open. The 25-year-old finished with a two-shot victory over World No.1 Nelly Korda and Japan’s Rio Takeda. Currently ranked World No.8, Stark holds six LET titles and one other LPGA Tour win. Her best result at the Women’s Scottish Open came in 2023, when she finished tied for fourth.
Stark added, “Winning my first Major was a dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring that confidence into the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open. I’ve always loved the challenge of links golf, it really brings out a different side of your game. I look forward to building on that and hopefully contending this year.”
This year’s field boasts 13 Major champions with a combined total of 21 titles. Among them are 2022 Women’s Scottish Open champion Ayaka Furue, who claimed her first major at the Amundi Evian Championship last year and 2018 Women’s Scottish Open champion Ariya Jutanugarn, who won the AIG Women’s Open and the U.S. Women’s Open in 2018. Also competing are In Gee Chun, a three-time major winner; 2023 U.S. Women’s Open champion Allisen Corpuz; and World No.9 Hyo Joo Kim, the 2014 Amundi Evian winner. Three-time Major winner Anna Nordqvist, who captured the 2021 AIG Women’s Open is also in the field. Notably, each of the last four AIG Women’s Open champions, including Nordqvist in 2021, played the Women’s Scottish Open the week before their Major victory, highlighting the event’s key role as vital preparation for the final Major of the year.
The 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open marks the second year with ISPS HANDA as title sponsor and will be held at Dundonald Links for the fourth consecutive year. The tournament returned to this venue in 2022 after a multi-million pound makeover by owners Darwin Escapes to transform the club into one of the UK’s finest golf resorts. It was also previously held there in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The Scottish Government and VisitScotland remain long-standing supporters of women’s golf, with a strong commitment to the 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.
