HOW WILL THE FORMAT WORK AT THE PIF SAUDI LADIES INTERNATIONAL?

PIF Saudi Ladies International

This week sees the sixth edition of the PIF Saudi Ladies International taking place from February 13-15, but a new element has been added to the format.

In previous years, the tournament was solely a stroke play competition with the winner being crowned at the end of the week; however, in 2025 a team element has been added to the competition alongside the Individual stroke play portion.

This means there will be a 54-hole Individual stroke play tournament happening with a cut to the top 60 players and ties at the 36-hole mark, as well as a 36-hole Team competition for the first two days.

The field of 112 players will be split into 28 teams with each team comprising of four professional players.

Team Captains were selected based off the official Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings as of Monday February 3, 2025, with the captains picking in reverse order e.g. the 28th ranked captain will pick first and the 1st ranked captain will pick last.

Each Captain will pick one team member to be on their team while the third and the fourth member will be picked at random.

In the Team competition, the best two gross scores from the four players on each hole will count towards the team score with the winning Team having at the end of the 36 holes having the lowest score in relation to par.

If there is a playoff at the end of the 36 holes, the Team captain will have to nominate a player to play in the playoff.

After the cut has taken place at the end of 36 holes, the final day will purely focus on the Individual competition where the PIF Saudi Ladies International champion will be crowned.

There is a huge prize fund on offer this week with a total of $5 million USD up for grabs which is split between the two events.

The Team competition has a prize fund of $500,000 USD, meanwhile the Individual competition has a total prize pool of $4.5 million USD.
