Charley Hull is hoping to turn her hot streak in Saudi Arabia into a victory and end her two year winless drought at this week’s Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Riyadh.
It has been a couple years of near misses for the Solheim Cup star with Hull recording six runner-up finishes across the Ladies European Tour (LET) and LPGA since she won The Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America in October 2022.
Back in Saudi Arabia this week for the ATS season finale, a country which has faired well for the Englishwoman with two T3 finishes at Riyadh Golf Club and a runner-up finish at Royal Greens, Hull believes a victory is now just around the corner.
“My injury is fine now,” Hull said, who was forced to withdraw from her last Aramco Team Series outing in London. “It took about a month to get over. I’m all good. I feel like I’ve had a pretty good season, pretty consistent. I played in Malaysia [on the LPGA] last week. I had a decent week and finished T12.
“I’ve had a few top-10s. Pretty much every week I’ve been inside the top-20. I feel like a win is just around the corner.”
Hull returns to Riyadh Golf Club as the highest ranked player in the Rolex Rankings this week sitting 15th in the world standings.
She tees up as one of the marquee players alongside compatriot Georgia Hall, Thai Major winner Patty Tavatanakit, and last year’s winner Alison Lee – her Solheim Cup rival who obliterated the field in 2023 shooting -29 over three rounds.
Hull said: “It’s a very scorable golf course. It’s good for the confidence because you can make loads of birdies out there. It was very impressive from Alison [Lee] last year, -29 over three rounds. Wow, that was pretty crazy. So I’m looking forward to going out there and trying to make loads of birdies.
“I just love hitting golf shots and love playing golf. I feel comfortable on this course and I enjoy it here in Saudi Arabia. I actually really like the food here a lot as well. I’ve been downtown in Riyadh a few times and it’s really cool. Lots of stuff to do.”
Hull gets underway in the three-day Aramco Team Series – Riyadh on Thursday at 10:56am local time playing alongside teammates Paris Hilinski and Marta Sanz Barrio.
