With the Aramco Team Series – Riyadh nearing the start of play the teams have now been finalised following the Draft in Saudi Arabia.
In the fifth and final ATS event of 2024, two competitions will again take place side by side with 84 professionals competing in both the 36-hole Team competition and 54-hole Individual competition.
On Tuesday night at Riyadh Golf Club — the home venue hosting a Ladies European Tour (LET) event for a third time — the Draft took place with 28 captains selecting one teammate from the field of competitors. The third professional was randomly assigned before one amateur was added to complete the line-ups.
Captains were decided based on the 28 best-ranked players from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings as of Monday 21st October.
With the opening pick of the night, last season’s Order of Merit winner Trichat Cheenglab selected in-form Italian Virginia Elena Carta. The 27-year-old is the latest guest on The LET Golf Podcast. Korea’s Jo-Eun Kim makes up the professional trio.
Elsewhere, England’s Annabel Dimmock picked compariot and best friend Gabriella Cowley. The two played junior golf together and are joined by New Zealand’s Momoka Kobori who finished T2 in India last week.
For the first time ever we have an all German line-up at the Aramco Team Series. Helen Briem, La Sella Open champion and LET Access Series (LETAS) history-maker, picked fellow LET winner Patricia Isabel Schmidt. Sophie Witt makes up the trio.
Also one side to keep an eye on is Chiara Tamburlini’s squad. The Swiss rookie was the winning team captain in Shenzhen and this time opted for LET debutant Mimi Rhodes. The Englishwoman is an invitee this week and arrives in Riyadh having won the Curtis Cup, Lavaux Ladies Open, and second stage of LPGA Q-Series last week. France’s Anne-Charlotte Mora is the team’s third professional.
At the top of the order, Georgia Hall picked compatriot and last week’s winner Liz Young. Pia Babnik, a winner in Saudi Arabia in 2021, is also in the team.
Patty Tavatnakit – a champion at Riyadh Golf Club in February – picked Madelene Stavnar of Norway. Both Olympians share the same coach, Jamie Tipper, and have Agathe Sauzon as their third professional. The Frenchwoman finished T2 in India last week.
With the final pick of the night, Solheim Cup star Charley Hull picked invitee Paris Hilinski from the USA. Spain’s Marta Sanz Barrio makes up the trio.
