PACE HOPING FOR ANOTHER GOOD WEEK AFTER TEAM VICTORY

Lee-Anne Pace

Lee-Anne Pace was part of Team Tamburlini who won the Team title at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Shenzhen last week.

The South African had a good week in China securing victory in the team event as well as finishing T6 in the Individual event.

Pace enjoyed playing alongside LET Order of Merit leader Chiara Tamburlini, as well as CLPGA player Qianhui Lin and 15-year-old amateur Yanxuan Peng.

The 11-time LET winner believes that having fun and enjoying the week led to her best finish of the season.

“It was very nice to play with Chiara [Tamburlini], she’s such a nice girl and has so much energy,” said Pace. “She really did lift up the team completely and she made a tonne of birdies which really did help.

“Our team was really nice, everybody in the team was great and really good players. Every single person was superb and brought their side, it was really enjoyable and think it helped me get that top 10.

“I feel like I have been playing quite decently the whole year, I just haven’t really made any putts. My stats you’ll see I hit a lot of fairways and greens, and I hit them quite close actually.

“I guess if I putt well then, I’m in contention and if I don’t then I have an average week. Ball-striking wise, I’m probably striking it the best now than what I have done all year. Hopefully, I will make some putts this week.”

This week’s Wistron Ladies Open – Taiwan takes place at Sunrise Golf and Country Club with 108 professionals teeing it up.

The field is split with 45 LET professionals alongside 45 TLPGA professionals, as well as 18 invites.

Pace has enjoyed the last two weeks which has seen the events co-sanctioned with the CLPGA and the TLPGA.

She continued: “It’s great for them to be able to see where their level is, what they have to do to improve, the course set up, seeing what the girls are doing and how they prepare.

“The future for CLPGA and TLPGA, the more they play with us the better. Hopefully, they can come over to Europe and play a little bit and get some invites. It’s a great way to make the Tours stronger.”

The South African legend believes it will be a tough test this week on a long course but is hoping to be comfortable in the windy conditions.

“It’s playing quite long,” she added. “It’s rained a lot, so the ball isn’t really rolling. It’s been quite windy the past few days.

“I’ve been having a lot of 7-irons, 6-irons and 5-irons and the par-3s are long as well. Score-wise, I don’t think it’s going to be very low; I would say under 10-under-par if the course stays like it is.

“I’m used to wind, it doesn’t bother me too much. I will take the wind over rain any day. All golfers really know how to play in the wind, it’s something that suits me, so I feel quite comfortable with it.”
