Top players and a diverse range of events on the attractive Whitsun weekend on an outstanding course not far from Berlin: the third edition of the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG from 16 to 19 May 2024 guarantees a comprehensive professional sports experience at the Seddiner See Golf and Country Club.
On the only course designed by legendary golfer Robert Trent Jones Jr. in Germany, top talents and experienced tour winners will compete for the title in three weeks at the start of the European swing of the Ladies European Tour (LET) – and offer local fans close-up and exciting live sport. The event, which has established itself as one of the most popular on the Tour since its premiere in 2022, will open the top golf season in Germany for the first time.
In its third year, it offers a great opportunity to further develop the only German event on the LET in a prominent position on the tour calendar. Local fans in the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region can look forward to an exciting field of players with top international athletes. Above all, this includes a strong German line-up. For example, Sandra Gal, Solheim Cup winner and LPGA Tour title holder and one of the outstanding German golfers of recent years, will be teeing off in Germany again after a long time.
Sandra Gal: “Building a great tournament”
“I’m really looking forward to being able to support this event in Germany, which is so important for German women’s golf,” says Gal, who lives in the USA. “I’ve heard from afar what a great tournament the organisers have put together here. I’m very excited to finally be able to play in front of my home fans again and hope that everyone who is interested will come to the course in large numbers, cheer us on from up close and maybe even celebrate a German victory.”
Record winner Noja tees off in her home country
In addition to Gal, the next generation of top German players will be represented at the Seddiner See Golf and Country Club. Chiara Noja will also be teeing off in her Berlin home. The 18-year-old golfer from the Europe Amundi Team rose to world class at the age of just 16 as the youngest LET professional winner to date and the youngest European winner of a world ranking event.
The two top German talents Helen Tamy Kreuzer and Helen Briem will also be taking part in the home game. VcG is making this possible: “As a powering partner of the LET tournament, we have two wildcards and are delighted to give them to these two high-calibre players from Germany,” says VcG Managing Director Marco Paeke. “This gives these exceptional talents a great opportunity to continue pursuing their dream of playing professional golf and perhaps even compete at the very top.”
A few weeks ago, 25-year-old Kreuzer from Frankfurt achieved her first victory as a professional golfer at the ADT Challenge, an event on the South African Sunshine Ladies Tour. The 18-year-old high school graduate Briem was already European Junior Golf Champion at the age of 15. In 2023, her title at the R&A Girls Amateur Championships in England catapulted her into the limelight – she is the first German winner in the 104-year history of the world’s most important junior amateur tournament.
Number 1 on the LET also taking part
The hopeful German starters will be up against top international golfers during the week of the tournament; in addition to defending champion Kristyna Napoleaova from the Czech Republic, Bronte Law (England), who is currently leading the season rankings, will also be competing in Germany. She said: “I’m looking forward to teeing off at the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG. 2024 has been a great year so far with my third win on the LET and the lead in the Order of Merit. I’m enjoying travelling the world and playing tournaments on the LET. It will be great to return to Europe in May. I’ve never played the course before, but I’m looking forward to playing at Golf & Country Club Seddiner See and competing in both the tournament and the U.S. Women’s Open Qualifier.”
In addition to the top-class competition, there is also plenty planned for golf fans away from the course. The fan experience around the 18th hole has been improved once again. Among other things, Luis Bandera and his sushi offerings will enhance the enjoyment of top-class sport. In the public area, Mommys Kitchen, known as one of the best food trucks in the area, will also be catering for fans and volunteers. The hospitality area will be located directly on the clubhouse terrace, where the exceptional clubhouse catering under the direction of Claudine Friebe will provide a culinary experience. In 2022, Amundi, U.COM Event, the German Golf Association (DGV) and the Vereinigung clubfreier Golfspieler (VcG) jointly made it possible for a first-class women’s tournament to return to Germany after a six-year break. Since then, not only the winners Maja Stark (Sweden) and Kristyna Napoleaova (Czech Republic) have thrilled golf fans in Germany. Numerous strong performances and several top placings by German starters provided many spectacular moments in the first two editions of the Amundi German Masters powered by VcG.
