Three players secured their places at this year’s AIG Women’s Open with Thailand’s Chanettee Wannasaen, Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea and Nataliya Guseva clinching the three spots from the 2026 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.
In line with the eligibility statement, three places were available to the highest ranked players, not otherwise exempt, through the co-sanctioned Ladies European Tour (LET) and LPGA Tour event at Dundonald Links.
Thailand’s Wannasaen clinched the top spot after rounds of 71-76-70-69 to end the week in outright seventh place.
“I had no idea about the leaderboard for qualifying! I’m not good at playing in the wind. My first year at this tournament [2021], I played with the wind and the rain and I didn’t know how to play. My front nine was good, it should have been better and I missed short putts, but overall, it was good,” said Wannasaen.
“This year I have played badly and I keep missing the cut, then I play good and I miss the cut again. Sometimes I feel burned out and then I’m not happy when I play golf. I’m tired. I tried to stay in the present and not think about the future because of the wind and the tough conditions. It was a different mindset of let it go. If it’s good, it’s good and if it’s bad let it go.”
Darquea – the first player to represent Ecuador on the LET – finished in a share of 19th place to secure the second qualifying spot.
“I’m very happy, I think I’ve improved a lot in the windy conditions. My coach and I have been working really hard at it and David, my caddie, has been very helpful too and stayed with the process,” said Darquea.
“It was very special and obviously I’m very excited to have a chance next week. I’m guessing next week is going to be similar conditions to this week. I played there in 2018. Back in the day, I wasn’t as good or as complete a player especially in these conditions. Links golf is very different, so I’m excited to take another shot at it and see if I can play well over there.”
Guseva, who produced rounds of 72-74-73-73 in Scotland, sealed the third qualifying spot with a T25 finish.
