“I’m thrilled to announce my team, and congratulations to all the girls,” said van Dam, who will also be a vice-captain to Team Europe captain Anna Nordqvist later in the week.

“It was a pleasure to be at the European Girls Team Championship in Zurich in June to watch many of the girls compete, and I was incredibly impressed by their level and professionalism. I can’t wait to bring the whole team together in the next few weeks.

“To lead them in my home country gives me great pride, particularly as we will be making history by playing on the same course as the Solheim Cup for the first time.”

Spaniard Marta Muñoz earned a captain’s pick after winning the final qualifying event on Saturday, beating her compatriot Adriana García Terol in the final of the R&A Girls Amateur Championship at Craigielaw.

García Terol also grabbed her place via the PJSC qualifying rankings, which began in January 2026 and comprised 10 events across Europe.

There were also brilliant performances from Germany’s Lena Geier, who won the stroke play stage, and Swiss player Lana Guyot, who reached the semi-finals,to earn qualification, while France’s Axelle Guillemard’s run to the quarter-finals caught Van Dam’s eye.

For van Dam, it will be a full-circle moment, having represented Europe at the 2013 PING Junior Solheim Cup.

“It’s special for me,” said the 30-year-old, “Thirteen years ago I was part of an incredible PJSC European team that also included Georgia Hall, Emily Pedersen and Bronte Law, who I’m very happy will be my vice-captain at Bernardus Golf.

“To now have a chance to lead the next generation of stars is a great privilege.”

The PING Junior Solheim Cup comprises six foursomes and six fourball matches on Monday September 7, before 12 singles matches on Tuesday September 8. The players will stay on to watch the Solheim Cup, which starts on Friday September 11.

This will be the 14th playing of the PING Junior Solheim Cup, and Europe will be looking for a third win from four editions, having won in 2021 and 2023 before losing on US soil in 2024.

The U.S. PJSC team will be captained by Morgan Pressel who confirmed her team earlier this month.
