The 2024 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed takes place this week at Vasatorps Golfklubb in Sweden between June 6-9.
It is the fourth edition of the co-sanctioned event between the DP World Tour and the LET which sees 78 men and 78 women playing in the same groups for one prize fund and one trophy.
Sustainability is once again at the forefront of the tournament with many activations happening throughout the week.
The LET is committed to recognising and promoting great sustainable work being done by the LET community as part of the Tour’s initiative LET Celebrating the Green presented by Dow in partnership with GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf.
There are two important awareness days this week with World Environmental Day happening on June 5 and World Oceans Day on June 8.
On Tuesday June 4, a beach clean took place with local pre-school children from Norlandia and they were joined by LET and DP World Tour professionals Ellinor Sudow, Johanna Gustavsson, Marcus Kinhult and Jonas Blixt.
The children cycled to the beach with their teachers, were able to ask questions to the golfers and tidied up some litter at the beach.
This week there is also a fan offsetting competition where fans have the option to offset their travel emissions and be entered into a draw to win a VIP Hospitality package for two people at a DP World Tour event in 2025.
Later in the week, there will be a ‘careers in golf’ workshop with 16-19 year olds attending the tournament and learning about the variety of careers available, getting a behind the scenes tour and hearing from different people working at the tournament.
Other sustainable initiatives taking place throughout the week include water refill stations in the village and there will be no single-use plastic used in catering across the site.
There is a fully electric courtesy car fleet courtesy of Volvo, as well as limited use of generators on site plus a reduction in wood and raw materials used on infrastructures.
