Sustainability was once again a key pillar of the 2024 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open taking place at Dundonald Links.
The Ladies European Tour (LET) is committed to recognising and promoting great sustainable work being done by the LET community as part of the Tour’s initiative LET Celebrating the Green presented by Dow in partnership with GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf.
There were many initiatives going on throughout the week including a fully digital tournament programme, caddie and marshal bibs made from recycled polyester, no plastic cutlery, limiting generator requirements to one location on site and having water refill stations around the course.
In partnership with North Ayrshire Council and Active Schools North Ayrshire, local students were invited to create posters for the tournament and the winners were invited to the course on Wednesday to receive their prizes and get a photo from the first tee.
Another initiative saw nature walks with the RSPB happening across the week through a partnership between the R&A and RSPB, Dr Marie Athorn offered guided nature walks three times a day to highlight the conservation efforts of Dundonald Links.
Community clinics also took place across the week where aspiring young golfers from the local community were invited to take part in a series of clinics.
The clinics were in partnership with VisitScotland, Scottish Golf, North Ayrshire Council, Active Schools North Ayrshire and KA Leisure, and they hosted by Inci Mehmet and joined by LET pros Laura Beveridge, Lauren Walsh, Gemma Dryburgh and Meghan MacLaren.
Meanwhile the partnership with the LET and Titleist has seen 375 dozen ProV1 golf balls donated from the range to the local community.
