Former Ladies European Tour (LET) player and TV commentator Sophie Walker gave a career talk as part of a Sustained Futures workshop held at the Aramco Houston Championship.
Sustained Futures were on site at Golfcrest Country Club hosting engaging and education sessions designed for impact.
Young females between the ages of 10-18 were given the opportunity to attend the LET tournament and learn about different subjects.
The programme saw guest speakers such as Sophie Walker head into the Sustained Futures tent and give a Q&A with the children learning about key employability skills while hearing real-world experience.
There was also a session on Data and AI in Spirt which saw the group learn about how technology is used across the golf course e.g. in smart irrigation systems, and rewilding initiatives.
Finally, the youngsters also went on a nature and mental health walk on the golf course during the tournament to showcase the positive impact on mental health and highlight the importance of nature-based therapy.
Walker said: “It was great to be able to talk to the girls who came on site on Friday. They were so enthusiastic and engaged with the Q&A, and they asked me all sorts of questions about my career on and off the golf course. I hope they had a great time at the tournament watching the LET players and that they were able to see a different side to the golf industry.”
