The third day of Eva-Lotta Strömlid’s sustainable travel journey from her home in Sweden saw her enter the Netherlands.
As part of the LET Sustainability Initiative (LETSI) and to mark the celebrations of one year to go until the 2026 Solheim Cup, Lotta embarked on a monumental 1000km journey from Sweden to the Netherlands.
The Head of Client Partnerships at the LET began her day in Leer, Germany and cycled 101km on her bicycle, as well as taking a train ride, as she made her way into the Netherlands.
Thanks to investing in infrastructure, the Netherlands has become the world’s leading example of a cycling nation with more than 23 million bikes in the country and more than 35,000km of cycle paths.
Lotta is showcasing how it is possible to cycle to a major sporting event such as the 2026 Solheim Cup while in turn reducing her carbon footprint and feeling part of a community.
Speaking about the day, she explained: “Today was a great day. I was cycling in the countryside through lots of small villages and new territory for me. I was paying attention to my new surroundings and trying to take it all in. I took a train from Assen to Deventer and then cycled another hour to my hotel ready for the final two days of cycling that are ahead of me.”
Lotta is closing in on her goal of reaching Bernardus Golf – the host venue of the 2026 Solheim Cup – on Monday 8 September and she will be joined by Solheim Cup captains Angela Stanford and Anna Nordqvist for the final leg of the journey.
