ROAD TO BERNARDUS: LOTTA ENDS DAY ONE IN LÜBECK

LET Head of Client Partnerships Eva-Lotta Strömlid embarked on her 1000km journey from her home in Sweden to Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands on Thursday 4 September.

As part of the LET Sustainability Initiative (LETSI), Lotta is using sustainable travel methods to reach Bernardus Golf to mark the celebration of one year to go until the 2026 Solheim Cup.

On Thursday morning, Lotta began her journey in Sweden and cycled the first stint alongside her neighbours before meeting LET player Ellinor Südow in Helsingborg, where the duo enjoyed an ice cream.

After taking the boat to Denmark, Lotta then got back on her bicycle for two more hours and met up with Danish amateur and PING Junior Solheim Cup player Benedicte Brent-Petersen in Copenhagen.

The day ended with Lotta having cycled 100km on her bicycle in excellent weather conditions, as well as using the bus and boat to arrive in Lübeck, Germany and stay with her sister.

Speaking at the end of the first day, Lotta said: “I wanted to make sure I had a good morning together with my daughter Gilda before she left for school. Then once it was time to go, I got a little bit nervous.

“My two neighbours joined me and rode their electric bikes alongside me for the first three hours. It was nice to know they were together with me. I was mainly thinking about the next part of the trip.

“I was also focusing on hydrating and snacking along the way – following the advice of LET Performance Institute (LETPI) nutritionist Amy O’Donnell and 2026 PING Junior Solheim Cup captain Anne Van Dam.

“The ice cream I had with Ellinor was one of the best ice creams I’ve had and we had a good chat, similarly when I met Benedicte in Copenhagen it was so nice to see her and talk to her.

“I love this mode of transport. Cycling makes you feel so free and being in nature cycling for 100km was amazing. The weather was also the best I’ve had; it was sunny and a little bit of wind. I’m looking forward to some rest ahead of tomorrow.”
