Kajsa Arwefjäll is making her debut on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 2025, and she’s off to a strong start, showing great promise in her rookie season. The Swede earned her spot by achieving both the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year titles on the LET Access Series (LETAS) in 2024.
The 24-year-old currently sits in second place in Rookie of the Year on 410 points, behind England’s Mimi Rhodes. She has had three top ten finishes in the first four events, including a T4 finish at last week’s Joburg Ladies Open.
“I’m really happy with the result last week. I liked how I played, I hit some good drivers, and the irons were ok. I could have been a bit more solid, but that’s fine. So I feel like I’m feeling good for this week as well,” said the San Jose State University graduate.
Commenting on her LET season so far she said: “I love it. I’m really enjoying travelling and exploring new places. I’ve always wanted to go to Australia and South Africa, and I’m doing it in one trip, which is just crazy, so having a great time. Then also Korea, I’m very lucky.
“Before this year I didn’t really know what my goals were, but now my goal to be top ten, and then, I want to win a tournament”, the rising star continued.
Her mum joins her on the bag this week for the Investec SA Women’s Open and will spend some extra time in South Africa following the tournament, where they hope to do a safari trip, the wine tram, and see the penguins.
Her mum has previously caddied for her in Scotland last year when she won on LETAS. “My dad did the first one I won and then my mum’s like, no dad has two wins, and I have zero”, she said. “Then she got that one, so was fun. We don’t talk a lot about golf which I love. We just talk about random stuff which helps me stay relaxed.”
Golf is in Arwefjall’s genetics, with her father Niclas being a former professional player turned coach of Kajsa and others. “Even when my dad’s a caddie, we don’t talk much about golf. When I play on the course, I just like to have fun,” said the rookie.
The rookie also spent some time in Cape Town before the Joburg Ladies Open with Dorthea Forbrigd and fellow rookie Ellinor Sudow. They were able to play Erinvale Country and Golf Estate, as well as exploring vineyards, Stellenbosch, and go to the beach.
“I don’t like wine, but it was fun to do the whole experience”, she said.
As well as golf, Arwefjäll has enjoyed rope skippng from the ages of 11 to 17. She is the third best individual junior rope skipper in the world, and has won the Junior World Rope Skipping Championship alongside her team ‘SKILL’ who hold multiple European and World Championship medals. SKILL were a team of five with the first letter of each of their names.
“I had to stop unfortunately as it was just too much for me with golf, high school and rope skipping. Golf every day, ropes skipping five times a week.
The first European Championship was in Denmark when I was 13, and we won gold, silver, and bronze medals in different events so that was pretty cool. Then in 2014, we won Junior World Championship in Hong Kong as a team. After that I came third in the Junior World Championships as an individual, which I really wasn’t expecting. I cried a lot.”
In 2016, SKILL won gold in the World Championships in Sweden for Double Dutch.
“It’s pretty cool because the five of us went to the same class in school. A lot of teams usually come from different schools, so that was really nice and we’re still good friends now.”
Last year, she secured two victories: the MoreGolf Mastercard Open and the Destination Gotland Ladies Open. These accomplishments have propelled her to the LET, where she joins a competitive field of 52 rookies aiming to make their mark in the 2025 season.
