MORE BIRDIES, MORE TREES AS ARAMCO HOUSTON CHAMPIONSHIP PREPARES TO LEAVE LASTING LEGACY

Aramco Houston Championship

The Aramco Houston Championship will not only be leaving a lasting impact in terms of the world-class female golfers performing this week, but will also be building an environmental legacy with an ingenious tree-planting initiative as the PIF Global Series makes its first-ever stop in Texas.

In a progressive partnership between Aramco Houston Championship and the Trees For Houston non-profit organisation, every birdie scored this week by the field of 104 golfers at the par-5 14th hole at Golfcrest Country Club will see five trees shared with the local community as the Golf Saudi-backed event stands by its commitment to support sustainable golf.

A 15-gallon Eagleston Holly was planted beside the 18th green at Golfcrest in a ceremony on Wednesday with Johnny Hanson of Aramco Americas, Abby Clark from Trees For Houston, Golfcrest CC general manager Rene Rangel and China’s Muni He on hand to give the tree its new home.

“Trees For Houston is so fortunate to be a beneficiary of a really unique activation with Aramco,” said Abby Clark, Development Director, Events & Stewardship at Trees For Houston.

“For every birdie on the 14th hole the tournament is going to plant and or give us the ability to distribute five trees throughout the Greater Houston region. So we’re hoping for lots of birdies over the course of the weekend. So best of luck to all the players.

“Aramco is always looping in Trees For Houston to look at unique ways to draw maximum exposure to our mission. So through viewership across the States and even internationally, we’re really excited about people knowing about Trees For Houston and all the great work we’re doing in the community.”

Aramco ambassador Muni He, who tees off on Friday with the rest of the field in the fourth and penultimate stop of the PIF Global Series season, said: “Golf is a sport where we spend so much time in nature, and I really love that. It’s nice to see that we’re trying to give back and support the local ecosystem and environment. Hopefully, after my playing career, I can do even more with organisations that focus on sustainability.”

In collaboration with Trees For Houston’s Kinder Campus HQ, homeowners receiving trees will agree to plant, water, and care for them, ensuring long-term benefits for their neighbourhoods. The initiative will expand the reach of the championship throughout the Houston area, directly benefiting homeowners while contributing to the city’s environmental health.

Houston, a city with deep ties to Aramco and a thriving golf culture, provides an ideal setting for the event’s debut in Texas as well as such a biodiversity-focused initiative.

As the penultimate stop of the inaugural PIF Global Series season, the Houston Championship continues to showcase how strategic investment, innovation, and collaboration are reshaping the landscape of women’s professional golf on an international scale.
