MORA MANAGING EXPECTATIONS AHEAD OF SPECIAL TITLE DEFENCE IN FINLAND

Anne-Charlotte Mora is feeling good ahead of her maiden Ladies European Tour (LET) title defence but insists she will not be putting any pressure on herself as she returns to Finland for the Ladies Open by Pickala Rock Resort.

The Frenchwoman had a week to remember at last year’s edition of the tournament when she triumphed by one shot at Ålands Golf Club to clinch her first LET victory.

“I feel very happy to be back,” Mora said. “Finland is a special place, and even though it’s not the same course, it still feels special because of last year.

“I like this year’s course. It has very big fairways and big greens so I think it will be very good for my greens in regulations! But I like it here, it’s very nice.”

Mora’s best finish of 2023 so far came following the lengthy break on the LET at the Jabra Ladies Open when she placed T10 on home soil.

Since then the 26-year-old has struggled with consistency, missing the cut in three events sandwiched in-between a T18 finish at the Amundi German Masters.

Now back in a country she will forever have a special affiliation too, Mora is feeling good about her game and is hoping to rekindle her best form – even if things will be a little different this week.

“I have good memories from Finland and I’m actually feeling very good about my game again,” the one-time LET winner continued. “It’s getting better and better so it’s just a matter of time for a good result to come.

“I’ve been working a lot on my irons because they’re not the best part of my game. But it’s getting better and better so I’m now confident.

“It’s not like every tournament where I can just come and be myself. It’s very different. I don’t have any goals for this week but I’m just going to give 100% to each shot.”

Mora gets her title defence underway on Thursday at 13:10 alongside home favourite Tiia Koivisto and big-hitting Slovenian Pia Babnik.
