MID-ROUND SNACK GIVES SWAYNE BOOST AT JABRA LADIES OPEN

Alexandra Swayne

Alexandra Swayne’s scorecard was a tale of two halves after the first round of the 2025 Jabra Ladies Open at Evian Resort Golf Club.

The 25-year-old, who represents the U.S. Virgin Islands, began round one on the sixth hole in France and got off to a good start.

She made a par on the sixth and then rolled in three birdies in a row on holes seven, eight and nine.

It was more of a challenging back nine for Swayne, who dropped shots on the 12th and 17th holes, but she found momentum once again.

After 18, the Clemson graduate headed into the clubhouse and made a quick sandwich to eat before then rolling in birdies on the second, fourth and fifth holes to seal a round of 67 (-4).

“I almost birdied six, I birdied seven from four-feet and then eight from 21-feet then the next hole, the birdie was from one-foot,” she said. “I had a good start and pured it, so I was happy with that.

“I knew I had some easier holes coming. The last couple of holes of a golf course are going to be the hardest holes and they were. I hit well and I had a good attitude.

“I actually got some food after 18, I went into the clubhouse and got some food, so I think that was really helpful. I had some bread and put some mince on and then had bread and avocado. I just went and played golf, tried to have fun, picked targets and hit them on that target and trusted that was going to leave the ball where I wanted it to.”

Having played at Evian for the last few years on the Ladies European Tour (LET), Swayne has learned more about the golf course with every visit.

Her strategy for this week has been about picking good lines and committing to them, as well as having a deliberate process with each golf shot.

She continued: “This is my fourth year, I feel like this golf course is my second home and I absolutely love it. I truly do love this golf course.

“This whole week, I’m just trying to find good lines and hit aggressive swings because out here you never really know what the ball is going to do.

“So, if you really commit to a line, the ball even if you’re on a hill or it makes a weird bounce, it should end up where you want it to. Picking good lines and I was really slow and deliberate with my process. That was really helpful for going into both nines.”

At the end of the first day, Swayne sits in a share of seventh place three shots behind leader Moa Folke and will tee it up in round two at 1.57 pm (local time).
