Caitlyn Macnab secured victory on home soil winning the Waterfall City Tournament of Champions supported by Attacq and WCMC last week.
The 24-year-old received an invite into the event staged on Royal Johannesburg’s East Course after winning the R&A Rookie of the Year title on the Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT).
Macnab, who is also a rookie on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 2026, sunk an eagle putt on the 18th hole to win the mixed tournament and became the first woman to win the event.
“It was a fantastic opportunity,” said Macnab. “I got a late invite, so I was happy to be there first off, and it was a fantastic opportunity through the Sunshine Tour to give the women some exposure and fantastic that Waterfall City came in as a sponsor.
“To be there and to have my whole family there, it was nice to feel all of their support and to share the moment with them. Then to lift the trophy was pretty special.”
In her rookie season on the LET, Macnab has made 10 appearances making the cut in eight events and recording a best finish of T12 at the Lalla Meryem Cup.
She sits 60th in the LET Order of Merit rankings and seventh in the Rookie of the Year standings after the first 12 events of the year.
Having only turned professional last year, the rookie is still adjusting to Tour life and has also ready learned a lot.
She continued: “There’s lots to learn in your rookie season and lots that I’ve already learned. I’m loving all the travel, and I obviously had to get used to it. The SLT was a great warm-up and prep for the LET. It’s been a pretty smooth adjustment and I’m enjoying it.
“I’ve known Cass [Alexander] since our junior days, she’s a couple of years older than me, but we’ve known each other since the junior days, so there’s been a lot of support. A lot of the caddies are South African as well, there’s a nice community. The tour in general is so welcoming and friendly, so if I have any questions or want any advice, there are so many people that I can reach out and ask. It’s been lovely.”

This week sees the 2026 LET season continue with the 13th event of the year – the Dutch Ladies Open – taking place in The Netherlands with Goyer Golf & Country Club is hosting for the second consecutive year.
Macnab heads into this week with a big confidence boost off the back of her victory and is enjoying being able to travel and experience different countries.
She added: “I don’t think the performances have been quite there [so far]. To get that performance last week was a big confidence booster and I think there’s been a lot of glimpses of good in rounds, but I’ve struggle to string it all together. There’s lots learned and I’m excited to take this good form forward.
“I’ve spent more time in the UK than the rest of Europe, so I’m really excited. It’s my first time in the Netherlands and Amsterdam has always been on my bucket list, as well as Prague, so it’s nice to be able to experience it all.
“The course looks fabulous. I had a great range session earlier and a nice putting session as well. I’ve heard good things about the golf course, it’s a little bit quirky off the tee and I’m excited for the test.”
The Dutch Ladies Open gets underway on June 19 and continues until June 21 at Goyer Golf & Country Club.
