Xiyu ‘Janet’ Lin secured her third LET title at the weekend winning the Individual title at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Hong Kong.
The Chinese star beat world number three Jin Young Ko in a two-hole playoff on Sunday morning rolling in a monster birdie putt to lift the trophy.
Lin, who got her first two victories on the Tour in 2014 and 2015 at the Sanya Ladies Open, was excited to be able to get status on the LET again.
“It really means a lot,” she said. “The LET is where I started my professional career, and I had a great three, four years on the Tour.
“Also, it’s my first time playing the Aramco Team Series. I already told everybody how much I love Hong Kong, but now I just love it even more.
“I’m very thrilled to get my LET tour status back so hopefully I’ll be able to play a couple more. If there’s a Hong Kong tournament next year, I’m definitely coming back.”
The 27-year-old turned professional in 2011 and this year reached her highest ranking of number nine in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
In the Team competition, Lin picked English professional Hannah Burke and they were also joined by Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen alongside amateur Michelle Wong with the quartet finishing in a tie for fifth place.
The three-time LET winner was really glad that Burke was still available when her turn came at the Draft and enjoyed her time playing in the tournament.
She explained: “I always looked forward to seeing my fellow players every year when I was playing like Scottish Open and British Open.
“Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, I lost my LET status due to not playing enough tournaments. This week, it was just a lot of fun.
“I had never played a Team Series format, so luckily, when I was picking, Burkey was still on the list. There was no doubt I was going to pick her, and the last two days, I had two great rounds, I just enjoy so much being with them, and it’s a completely different vibe out here.
“It’s been great, and I’m glad she had a good two days too. I think everything worked out perfectly this week.”
