Carolina Chacarra secured her maiden Ladies European Tour (LET) victory at last month’s Hulencourt Women’s Open.
It was just her second start on the LET this year as the rookie has been balancing playing on the both the LET and LPGA Tour.
After her win, the Spaniard headed back to her homeland to celebrate with her friends and family before heading to The Open to watch brother Eugenio.
“It was amazing,” she said. “It’s been a little up and down this year, so it was great to just play good and solid golf that week and then end up winning. It gave me a spot not only to Scottish, but also into AIGWO and I’m very excited for that.
“I flew straight home that Sunday to see my grandparents. I just spent time in Madrid with my friends and it was awesome. Last week, I was at the Open because my brother was playing, so it was a little different golf tournament. It was also super fun to cheer on him and watch him play.
“It’s been super exciting. He’s my role model and my older brother, so just watching him do good also gives me that impulse. I just believe in myself and keep dreaming and working hard. It’s great. The entire family was there for him last week. Both of my parents will be coming for me next week, so we’re just super excited to be able to enjoy the experience of a Major with the family.”
Chacarra clinched her spot in the 2026 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open thanks to her victory in Belgium in June.
The rookie is one of 144 players teeing it up in the co-sanctioned event held at Dundonald Links from July 23-26.
Links Golf brings a different challenge and Chacarra hopes its one she is able to tackle head on this week.
“It’s definitely tough. We just have to hit it to the right spot, but with the wind, you never know. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m super excited for the week. I feel like with British Am and British Girls, I’ve played quite a few weeks on Links Golf. I’m just very excited, and hopefully it’s another good week,” she explained.
“I would say I’m a good ball striker and definitely staying out of the bunkers helps here. I just have to play smart golf and keep trusting the numbers because clubs are just bouncing and rolling that you don’t expect that. We’re hitting it a little further, and it’s just a game of trust in what’s going to happen instead of what you think can happen.”
Balancing the schedules on both Tours has been a busy start to professional life for Chacarra, who is second in the LET Rookie of the Year standings, but she is enjoying her time travelling and competing.
She added: “It’s definitely been a lot more golf than I thought. Everyone tells you there’s a lot of weeks in the year, and you don’t realise until you start travelling from back-to-back events. That’s been definitely a big adjustment, but it’s been super fun just being able to play on both Tours and take it all in, learn from the best players in the world, and just enjoy the dream of being a professional golfer.”
Chacarra tees it up in the first round at 8.03 am (local time) alongside Japan’s Chizzy Iwai and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit.
