LET SUSTAINABILITY AWARD BACK FOR 2024

At the start of the year, the Ladies European Tour (LET) held a season launch ahead of the season-opening event to kickstart the year.

The season launch included the inaugural edition of the LET Awards which celebrated the achievements of tournaments from the 2023 schedule.

There were four awards on offer and one of those focussed on sustainability efforts with the LET Sustainability Award being given to the tournament with the best sustainability initiative from 2023.

Carlos Padilla II, Head of Global Sports Partnerships at Dowpresented the Sustainability Award to the 2023 FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open presented by Trust Golf at Dundonald Links, which was accepted by Jill Lederer, Vice President, Golf at IMG.

Thanks to becoming the first GEO Certified® Tournament on the LET, the FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open presented by Trust Golf was recognised for the tournament’s leadership as a more sustainable golf event.

GEO Certification is awarded and assured by the international non-profit GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, and is based on the strength of commitment, breadth and depth of action, and range of tangible measured impacts across a broad sustainability agenda.

“It is a collaborative team effort on creating a sustainable tournament. We are still at the start of this journey but hope that players work with us and appreciate our efforts to make tournaments as sustainable as possible. We were very proud to win the Sustainability Award 2023,” said Harry Owen, Promoter FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open 2023.

In a couple of months, the LET Awards will be taking place in January of 2025 and there will once again be an award for the Best Sustainability Initiative which will see great sustainable work from 2024 recognised and celebrated.

The Ladies European Tour (LET) and the LET Access Series (LETAS) is committed to recognising and promoting great sustainable work being done by the LET community as part of the Tour’s initiative LET Celebrating the Green presented by Dow in partnership with GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf.
