LET IN CAPE TOWN FOR INVESTEC SA WOMEN’S OPEN

After Chiara Tamburlini’s heroics at the Joburg Ladies Open the Ladies European Tour (LET) is in Cape Town this week for the 31st edition of the Investec South African Women’s Open.

Staged at the picturesque Erinvale Country and Golf Estate for the first time, 120 players from 34 nations will tee up in the four-day event between April 25-28 vying for their share of €320,000.

The event marks the eighth event of the 2024 LET schedule and the finale of this year’s Sunshine Ladies Tour season – the circuit which will once again co-sanction the tournament.

Erinvale has twice hosted the men’s Investec South African Open in 2003 and 2004, both of which were won by home favourite Trevor Immelman. The course also staged the first men’s World Cup of Golf to be hosted in South Africa in 1996. The competition was won by the duo of Ernie Els and Wayne Westner.

A host of stars will be taking to the fairways including three of the top five in this year’s Order of Merit, with England’s Bronte Law (1), Switzerland’s Tamburlini (2) and Singapore’s Shannon Tan (4) all in the field.

Joining them are past winners Alice Hewson (2020) from England and India’s Diksha Dagar (2019), while legendary South African Lee-Anne Pace (2014, 2015, 2017, 2021, 2022) also teeing up bidding for a sixth Investec South African Women’s Open title.

Another South African, Tandi McCallum, joins them as the fifth past winner in the field. Defending champion Ashleigh Buhai is absent in Cape Town after playing in last week’s Chevron Championship.

Elsewhere, LET champions are aplenty with no fewer than 27 winners included in the field. This includes four victors from 2024 – Law, Tamburlini, Tan and Colombia’s Mariajo Uribe. The full list of entries can be found here.

All four tournament days will be available to watch live around the world. Full broadcast details will be listed on the LET website in the coming days.

A cut of the top-60 players and ties will take place following the conclusion of play on Friday.
