The Ladies European Tour (LET) continues its UK swing with the final Major of the year – the AIG Women’s Open – held at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
2026 is the 50th anniversary of the championship, which was first staged in 1976, and has seen the prize fund increase from £500 on offer at the first to $1 million in 1998 and $10 million this year.
Royal Lytham & St Annes is hosting the prestigious tournament for the sixth time with the last being in 2018 when home hero Georgia Hall secured victory.
A field of 144 players will be teeing it up in a 72-hole stroke play competition and there will be a cut to the top 65 professionals and ties at the end of the second round.
World number six Miyu Yamashita returns to the tournament as defending champion having secured a two-stroke victory at Royal Porthcawl last year.
England’s Charley Hull, who finished as runner-up in 2025, leads the strong home contingent hoping to finally get her Major victory.
A host of winners from this season on the LET and LPGA Tour are ready to battle it out on the traditional links layout which includes 166 pot bunkers.
Nelly Korda of the USA and Korea’s Haeran Ryu have won all of this year’s Majors between them with two apiece to their name in 2026.
2021 LET Order of Merit champion and world number two Jeeno Thitikul secured the Smyth Salver for low amateur previously at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2018.
It is also crunch time for those players hoping to be part of the European team at the 2026 Solheim Cup with the team being finalised and announced by captain Anna Nordqvist on August 3.
The AIG Women’s Open will take place from Thursday July 30 until Sunday August 2 at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
