After a successful week in Johannesburg, the Ladies European Tour (LET) has moved down to Cape Town for the second of two South African tournaments.
The Investec South African Women’s Open is being staged at Steenberg Golf Club and will see 132 players from 29 nations teeing it up in a stroke play competition from March 8-11.
It is the ninth edition of the tournament on the LET and the 30th ever edition while there are plenty of former champions teeing it up this week.
Home favourite Lee-Anne Pace comes in as two-time defending champion having won the past two editions.
And the 11-time LET winner is looking forward to the week ahead playing in front of friends and family and hoping to make it a hat-trick.
2022 AIG Women’s Open champion Ashleigh Buhai is in two, returning to the tournament for the first time since 2020.
The world number 18 is a former champion herself having clinched the crown back in 2018 at Westlake Golf Club.
England’s Alice Hewson and India’s Diksha Dagar both secured their maiden LET titles in Cape Town, back in 2020 and 2019, respectively and will be hoping to replicate their performances once again.
The latest winner on the LET, England’s Lily May Humphreys who won last week’s Joburg Ladies Open is back and hoping for more glory.
While Spain’s Ana Pelaez Trivino, who sits fourth in the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol, finished in second place in Joburg alongside Sweden’s Moa Folke and the duo will be hoping to go one better this week.
Nine of the top 10 from last year’s Investec SA Women’s Open are also vying to better their result and that will include Argentina’s Magdalena Simmermacher, who lost to Pace in a playoff last year.
There are no fewer than 21 South Africans teeing it up this week with Pace and Buhai leading the line alongside Nicole Garcia, Stacy Lee Bregman and Casandra Alexander.
