IN-FORM HULL ‘BUZZING FOR THE CHALLENGE’ IN KOREA

World No 8 Charley Hull is excited for the challenge in Korea as the in-form star goes in pursuit of another Aramco Team Series title.

Hull finished runner-up at the series opener in Tampa in March and is now hoping to continue her fantastic record in the unique event, one where she has recorded seven top-five finishes in nine ATS events.

“I’ve been playing well,” the Englishwoman said, who also claimed glory in the 2021 New York Individual competition. “With my game in good shape and having a positive season so far, I just need to keep at it – working on my swing and getting to know the course better here.

“The greens are lightning fast, so patience will be key. But I’m buzzing for the challenge ahead – there are loads of chances to make birdies this week, as long as I keep it accurate.”

This week the Ladies European Tour (LET) is in Seoul for the very first time and South Korea for the fourth time having staged three events on Jeju Island between 2008 and 2010.

For Hull though the stunning setting is somewhat familiar territory with the Solheim Cup star having tee’d up several times here on the LPGA.

The 28-year-old said: “The last time I played here [in South Korea] was 2021 [where] we had an LPGA Tour event. It was an hour flight from Seoul and I always like going to Korean barbecue. Is it Bulgogi? One of my favourite foods, and I like Kimchi too, so yeah so do enjoy it here!”

Joined in the press conference at New Korea Country Club by fellow European stars Manon De Roey and Anne van Dam, Hull also openly discussed her ADHD diagnosis and how being out on the course continues to help manage her emotions.

“I just find that sticking to my routines really works for me,” the 2014 LET Order of Merit winner said. I’m one of those people who thrive on having a set way of doing things. It helps me stay on track, and I wouldn’t want to rely on medication for that.

“Plus, I think it benefits my golf game. I can really zone in on what I need to work on, make changes fast, and stay focused on the course. I tend to get bored easily, so having a routine keeps me concentrated on golf for longer periods.”

Hull gets underway at Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Korea on Friday at 7:57am local time. She is joined in her team by Scotland’s Michele Thomson and England’s Flic Johnson.
