HINSON-TOLCHARD EXCITED FOR EUROPEAN SWING AFTER FIRST TOP-10 OF THE SEASON

The Tenerife Women’s Open proved to be a memorable week for Maddison Hinson-Tolchard as the Australian rookie fired a final round 68 (-4) to record her first top-10 of the season.

It was Hinson-Tolchard’s best ever result on the Ladies European Tour (LET), a finish which now gives the 23-year-old plenty of confidence heading into the upcoming run of events in Europe.

“I’m very pleased with it,” the Aussie said, who ended the week T8 at Abama Golf as Sara Kouskova claimed another victory. “I feel like my game’s been trending in the right direction. I knew a really good round and a really good week was coming. So yeah, I’m super happy. A top-10 is fantastic.

“It was my first time in Tenerife. It was fantastic and the views were awesome. The course was very hilly but I really enjoyed it. I putted really well and had a lot of confidence in my game after a good off week. I’ve been doing a lot of work with my coach back home. It’s great that it’s finally all come together nicely.”

Hinson-Tolchard earned her LET card at Q-School last December but has found results hard to come by since making her season debut at the Lalla Meryem Cup. Ahead of the next run of events in Europe, the rookie will now be boosted by having a home comfort alongside her on the on fairways.

“My boyfriend is flying over from Australia,” she explained. “So I’ll have him on the bag for the next run of events. Hopefully we’ll be a good team together and we can get some more good results. I’m playing the next four events so it will be five weeks in a row.”

Currently 66th in the LET Order of Merit, Hinson-Tolchard has also been making the most of her time off the course, forming a strong bond with fellow rookies Brianna Navarrosa, Amelia Garvey and Ginnie Ding.

“It’s been a great rookie year so far,” the Australian said. “I’ve got a lot of friends out here already which has been super nice. I’ve been staying with a heap of different people and am really trying to enjoy myself. I’ve always wanted to travel around Europe so this is giving me the opportunity to do that.

“We get to go to some really cool places, so I’m just trying to enjoy every event and spend at least one day a week going out to do some sightseeing just to break it up.”

Hinson-Tolchard tees up in Belgium this week at the Hulencourt Women’s Open. You can follow all the action throughout the tournament on our socials – @LETgolf on Instagram, TikTok and X, and Ladies European Tour on YouTube and Facebook – #HulencourtWomensOpen.
