On Tuesday at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed, Alice Hewson and John Catlin attended a session for golfers with disabilities at Haverdals Golf Club.
Social sustainability is an important topic for both Destination Halmstad and Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed in making sure that everyone in the community is included.
LET winner Hewson, who finished as best-placed female in third place at last year’s tournament, attended the session as did DP World Tour winner John Catlin.
Approximately 40 non-golfers with intellectual disabilities were invited to try playing golf at Haverdals Golf Club, a club which for several years has worked actively with golf for people with disabilities.
The young people were curious about the sport of golf and got to try out everything from putting to hitting the driving range under the guidance of the club’s coaches.
While Hewson and Catlin were on hand to provide advice, guidance and make sure that everyone had a good time and give the young people a taste of professional life.
Hewson, who is an ambassador for EDGA, said: “It was a great start to the week and gave us both such a nice smile and inspiration to be with all these nice young people out here in nature. The cool thing about golf is that everyone can enjoy it and we definitely enjoyed it all together today.”
The activity was a collaboration between Haverdals Golf Club, FUB Halmstad and Destination Halmstad.
