HERBIN EYES HOME VICTORY WITH BREWERTON AS CADDIE

Last year’s runner-up to Linn Grant, Celine Herbin, is full of confidence heading into this week’s Jabra Ladies Open.

The two-time LET champion, winner of the 2015 Lacoste Ladies Open de France and the 2019 La Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational, is pleased with her current form, which includes a tie for 16th in last week’s Amundi German Masters. She has been playing well with the help of former LET champion and Solheim Cup player Becky Brewerton as her caddie since the Joburg Open.

“I love this place. I’ve played here a lot of times in the Jabra Ladies Open and The Evian Championship. The course is quite a challenge so I’m excited to play here again, hopefully with good weather and I’ll enjoy it. I have Becky on that bag, so that’s awesome,” said Herbin.

“We are very happy to work together. She has more years of experience than me. We work very well together, a good atmosphere and I’m looking forward to working more with her.

“During a practice round, she was caddying for Meghan [MacLaren] in Saudi Arabia in February. She said she had stopped playing and I asked if she would be caddying for Meghan and she said no. I asked what her plan was and she said teaching at home, so I asked if she would like to be a full-time caddie. I am sure we will be a very good team. She took her time to think about it and she realised that, yes, it would be a good decision.”

“My game is good and my coach is on site. The swing is good. I have been struggling with my health the last two months, since I arrived in Kenya. I was sick and it took almost three months to recover. I don’t do my gym workout anymore and I just saw a specialist this morning, so I’m still dealing with it, but I have some good vibes going on. We could see that last week and hopefully it’s going in the right direction.”

One of 16 French hopefuls in the tournament, Herbin gets underway at the Jabra Ladies Open at 9:17am local time playing alongside fellow LET winners Lily May Humphreys from England and Kristyna Napoleaova from Czech Republic.
