Esther Henseleit is excited to be back on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and teeing it up in her first Amundi German Masters since 2022.
The two-time LET winner has become the face of women’s golf in Germany following her silver medal success at the Paris 2024 Olympics which catapulted her into the spotlight.
After an excellent summer of golf, Henseleit was also part of the 2024 European Solheim Cup Team in September becoming the sixth German player to represent Europe in the competition.
The Olympic silver medallist is looking forward to being able to tee it up on home soil, especially so close to home, and has already been receiving a lot of support on practice days.
“It’s great to be back,” she said. “I’ve not played in Germany for a couple of years now, so it’s great to be here this week and I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’s fun. It’s great to see the interest I got after the Olympics last year, it’s great to see everyone out here – even on the practice days. I hope many people come and watch us over the next few days. Of course, it’s a bit different and there’s a bit more media than what I’m used to, but I’m just trying to enjoy this week.
“Yes, I embrace it. It’s fun to be that person who can inspire the younger generation to pick up golf. It’s great to see the growing interest in the women’s tours on the LET and the LPGA. I’m quite happy to be that person. I hope I can help golf grow a bit and Germany and I’m trying to live up to it.”
Henseleit predominantly plays on the LPGA Tour and has had a consistent year thus far with a highlight being a T2 finish at the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion in April.
The German star has also had consistent performances in Major championships this year having not finished outside the top 25 in the three completed.
Thanks to her great consistency in 2025, the 26-year-old now sits in 21st place in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
She continued: “This year has been really solid. I feel like every part of my game is working pretty well, I’m still kind of waiting for everything to come together in one special week. I hope that’s coming this week, but it’s been very good. I’m enjoying it out on the golf course.”
The 2025 Amundi German Masters is taking place in Hamburg for the first time, with the tournament having been in Berlin for the past three years.
Green Eagle Golf Courses is the host venue for this week with the North Course providing a tough test to the field of 132 players.
Henseleit is aware of the challenges the course provides having played here a few times including in the Pro-Am at the DP World Tour event.
She added: “The golf course is certainly a bit different. It’s very long, but because of all the par-5s, you definitely do get some chances.
“It’s still playing pretty soft and the wind is going to pick up, so it’s definitely going to be a challenge. I always enjoy hard golf courses; I like the challenge of grinding out there and it’s not a given par or birdie on every hole. I really like this place.
“I actually played in the Pro-Am with the men one time and I have played it a couple of times other than that, so it’s not a course I know very well, but I’ve definitely been here before.”
Henseleit will begin her first round on the ‘Green Monster’ at 8.13 am (local time) alongside Ireland’s Lauren Walsh and Singapore’s Shannon Tan.
