The Ladies European Tour (LET) returns to tournament action this week with the second edition of La Sella Open.

La Sella Golf Resort which is located in Denia, Alicante hosts the tournament for the second year in a row.

Before play gets underway on Thursday, here are a few things to know…

Defending champion back again

Nuria Iturrioz secured her fourth LET title at the 2023 edition of La Sella Open defeating Germany’s Laura Fuenfstueck in a playoff.

The Spaniard produced rounds of 68-70-67 to be in the playoff alongside Fuenfstueck and had two putts for victory on the second playoff hole which she rolled in from close range.

Having won the inaugural edition of the tournament, Iturrioz is back for more this week and hoping to perform well again on Spanish soil.

Home players out in force

Iturrioz is one of 15 Spanish players in the field at La Sella Open hoping to secure victory in their homeland.

Alongside Iturrioz, the LET winners from Spain playing are Marta Martin, Ana Peláez Trivino, Carmen Alonso and Maria Hernandez.

They are also joined by Marta Sanz Barrio, Luna Sobron Galmes, Paz Marfa Sans, Mireia Prat, Harang Lee, Elena Hualde, Marta Perez, Carla Tejedo Mulet, Blanca Fernandez and Natasha Fear.

LETAS star in town

Germany’s Helen Briem is an invite in this week’s La Sella Open having had a spectacular year so far.

The teenager lost in a playoff on the LET at the Dormy Open Helsingborg while still an amateur and has played a full season on the LET Access Series.

Briem, who turned professional in the summer, has four wins on LETAS including the Rose Ladies Open and will be hoping for a good result on the LET.

Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year leader teeing it up

Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini has been sat at the top of the Rookie of the Year standings for a few months.

But after the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, where she finished in fourth place, the rookie also went to the top of the LET Order of Merit.

Tamburlini will be hoping to stay top of the pile but Bronte Law and Manon De Roey, who are second and third respectively, are also playing this week and could catch the Swiss star.

Home advantage for three players

Three players have a home advantage as they prepare to play at La Sella Golf Resort this week.

France’s Celine Herbin, who is a two-time LET winner, lives here in Denia and has La Sella has her home course.

Meanwhile, Natasha Fear and Leticia Ras-Anderica both grew up in the area and came through the academy here at La Sella.
