FIELD BREAKDOWN: 2024 JOBURG LADIES OPEN

Nicole Garcia

The Ladies European Tour (LET) is in South Africa and specifically Johannesburg for this week’s Joburg Ladies Open.

It is the tenth edition of the tournament and the third time that the tournament is being co-sanctioned by the LET and the Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT)

Modderfontein Golf Club is the venue once again as it has been for the previous two editions of the event.

A field of 120 players from 37 nations will be teeing it up in a 72-hole stroke play competition with a cut to the top 60 professionals and ties after the second round.

With it being a co-sanctioned tournament, the field is made up of 84 LET members, seven invites and 29 members of the SLT.

One winner from the 2024 season is in attendance with Magical Kenya Ladies Open winner Shannon Tan teeing it up.

Tan made history earlier in the year becoming the first Singaporean to win on the LET and leads the Rookie of the Year standings.

England’s Lily May Humphreys was the winner of the 2023 edition – her first victory on the LET – securing a two-stroke win.

South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace, who has won 11-times on the LET and was the 2010 Order of Merit winner, will be teeing it up for the second time this season.

Pace is not the only South African in the field with 18 playing including local stars Nicole Garcia and Casandra Alexander.

They are also joined by recent winner on the SLT Cara Gorlei and LET rookie Danielle du Toit – who both got their LET cards at Q-School.
