The Ladies European Tour (LET) takes a trip to Asia this week with the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Shenzhen.
It is the first time an Aramco Team Series presented by PIF event will be taking place in China and the LET is returning to the country for the first time since 2017.
The tournament will see two competitions taking place side-by-side with the 36-hole Team competition alongside the 54-hole Individual competition, where there will be cut to the top-60 professionals and ties at the end of the second round.
A field of 84 professionals from 23 nations are teeing it up with seven invites, 57 LET players and 20 CLPGA players competing for their share of $1,000,000 USD which is split between the Team and Individual competitions.
As with previous ATS events, 28 Team captains – who were decided based on their Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking on 23 September – will pick one player and they will be joined by a randomly selected player, as well as an amateur.
China’s home star Ruoning Yin, who is fourth in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, will be teeing it up in the event for the first time.
The major champion is one of 12 stars from China playing in the event and she is joined by Olympic bronze medallist Xiyu Lin.
Lin won the Individual title at last year’s Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Hong Kong after defeating Jin Young Ko in a playoff.
Eight winners from the 2024 LET season are in attendance including Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini who became the second two-time winner of the season last week.
Tamburlini won the Lacoste Ladies Open de France five months after her maiden LET victory at the Joburg Ladies Open.
The Swiss star extended her advantage at the top of the LET Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year standings.
In the LET Order of Merit, the top four players in the rankings are all playing this week with Tamburlini, Belgium’s Manon De Roey, England’s Bronte Law and France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard all here.
France’s Celine Boutier is the top-ranked European player in the field this week and has won in China before securing victory at the 2017 Sanya Ladies Open.
Boutier was part of the 2024 European Solheim Cup Team and is joined by fellow Solheim Cup stars Emily Kristine Pedersen of Denmark and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden.
